Margraviate
A Margraviate is a historical territorial jurisdiction, named after a Markgraf, or 'count on the frontier', who serves to defend and administer the border regions of a realm, mostly focused on repelling external threats. Margraviates blend military defense with governance; the Margrave's responsibilities include safeguarding the frontier and managing local affairs, bridging the gap between the central authority and these border territories.
