Guelfen und Ghibellinen
Die Guelfen und Ghibellinen kämpfen bereits seit Beginn des Investiturstreits vor Jahrhunderten um die Vorherrschaft über Italien. Die Guelfen unterstützen die Römische Autorität über die Halbinsel, wohingegen die Ghibellinen als kaiserliche Loyalisten angesehen werden, die dem HRR (Heiliges Römisches Reich) die Treue geschworen haben. Doch die Lage hat sich stark verändert: Beide Seiten vertreten eine Vielzahl von Interessen, weshalb es den beteiligten Ländern nicht fremd ist, zu ihrem eigenen Vorteil die Seiten zu wechseln.
