Enlightenment
Rationalism and Empiricism have gained incredible popularity among the greatest minds of the age. In letters, publications, and coffeehouses, intellectual giants from kings to scientists debate the merits of tolerance, advanced scientific methodology, and the spread of Enlightenment ideals to all of humanity. From universities and the courts of enlightened monarchs, expeditions are being sent to measure, catalog, and map the world so that we can better understand the laws governing everything around us. Other thinkers are more interested in the laws of society and try to better understand the Rights of Man.
Colossal undertakings, such as creating a complete encyclopedia of all knowledge or a complete index of all plants, animals, and fungi in the world, are being pursued for the greater good of humanity. The Light of Reason has been lit, and many will not rest until it has been brought to all corners of the earth.
