Komnénian Prónoia
Under the Komnénian emperors, the informal Prónoia system had been codified into a rigorous instrument of imperial policy. Grants were formally contracted, with each holder obligated to furnish a cavalry contingent proportional to the revenues they received. The Emperor retained the right of revocation, and a reorganised imperial registry tracked every grant and its associated military obligation ensuring that the land revenues of the realm translated directly into mounted levy strength under the crown's direct control.
