Common Law is a legal system that originated amongst the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. It is characterized by a reliance on precedent; judges are bound by their previous decisions rather than strict adherence to the written law of the state. This allows for a degree of predictability and consistency in legal decisions, but can also make it difficult to adapt to changing circumstances and may lead to the entrenchment of unjust or outdated laws.
