We have adopted colonial policies in alignment with Sepúlveda's reasoning that native peoples are naturally disposed to be slaves, and that slavery is also the best way for their Christian overlords to convert them to the true faith. As a result, the landowners in our colonies face no retribution for the way they treat the local population and can ultimately extract greater profits from their labor.
