The terms our officials currently serve are too short for them to fully realize larger and more complicated projects. This has the effects of feeding populist sentiment, and often leads to short-sighted, less effective policy development. Let us reform our election system to allow for longer terms so that our elected officials have the time they need to properly conduct their office.
