A reform to the Muqāta'ah system, Malikâne allows tax farmers to purchase lifelong contracts for tax collection rights in the areas they farm. This provides them with more security and incentivizes long-term investment in their region's overall economic development. The drawback of this system is that maintaining rule of law over these lifetime grants will become more difficult.
