This 'founding descent' or Descălecatul represents the migration of Romanian elites and the establishment of the first sovereign Țara Românească (Romanian Land), independent of foreign hegemonies. This event marks the birth of a distinct Romanian statehood, separate from the surrounding empires, but deeply rooted in Orthodox and Latin heritage.
