Horses are not native to Orissa, and the lands here are unsuitable for raising them. Our jungles are, however, famously teeming with elephants. In the dense jungles of Eastern India, well-executed tactical cooperation between elephants and infantry can be just as deadly as a cavalry. Let us further increase the size of our elephant corps and refine their tactics, so that we will be known as a true Gajapati, 'Lord of the Elephants'.
