Constraining, inflexible doctrine has never won many admirers among the Tatar hordes. When the Great Öz Beg Khān adopted Islam, it was the faith of a Sufi Shaykh or a zealous Qāḍī that he invited into his lands.
Centuries of tradition and loyalty are what we would rather build our state upon. Religion has a part to play, but we would prefer to see our country thrive than to fall apart in the chaos of forced religious homogeneity.
