Literary Reform
For centuries, we used Classical Chinese to write our documents. However, the script used to write our language is Chữ Nôm, a native script based on Chữ Hán, the script of Classical Chinese. Chữ Nôm was non-standardized and not used often enough compared to Classical Chinese, so there has been some pressure to reform the script and make it more suitable for our administrative purposes.
