We invest in the fortification of the key passes and valley approaches, training our garrison forces to hold terrain rather than meet the enemy in open ground, and establishing a network of signal stations that ensures no advance can reach us without warning. This system of Difesa Alpina makes our territory one of the most costly to invade in the region, converting the rugged landscape into an ally that inflicts losses on any hostile force before our own soldiers need to engage.
