Paulicianism
Paulicianism is a dualist Christian sect that rejects the material world as the creation of an evil force. Its followers hold that only the spiritual realm is pure and base their beliefs on the New Testament, rejecting the Old Testament entirely. Persecuted by both Catholic and Orthodox authorities, the Paulician movement resisted assimilation and inspired later reformist movements.
