Our delegation to Balliol has returned in failure, with negotiations with Balliol Ruler once again breaking down with no agreement. Despite our offer to exchange the custody of David in return for Balliol retracting his support from England and embracing French support, he insisted on maintaining support from the English. Furthermore, David and his advisors took the opportunity to return to Scotland, furious with the French court's attempts to exchange them to their enemy.
