Heavy Frigate
The heavy frigate was introduced by the British in the 18th century as a larger variant of the frigate in terms of both size and power of its guns. Having more and bigger guns meant an increase in their firepower and resulted in ships of individually greater force. Heavy frigates became the standard frigates during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
