The Bajada
Our culture has produced a specialized class of 'Night Runners,' or Bajada. These are men with deep knowledge of the area who can navigate the island's rocky karst and sheer cliffs in total darkness. In a military context, they are the ultimate tactical couriers, slipping through enemy lines or swimming between harbor forts during blockades. This culture of stealth will allow us, if institutionalized, to develop an army of spies that no enemy can detect.
