Our ancestors helped Minamoto no Yoritomo during the foundation of the Kamakura Shogunate. As a reward for this contribution, we were ranked as his Gokenin, and awarded a fiefdom in Hyūga Province. This is an honor few families in Kyūshū enjoy.
