One key feature of any Orthodox church is that of the Iconostasis, a wall of icons that separates the main body of the building from the altar. The icons it contains serve as a visualization of the link between the worshipers and the Holy of Holies, and thus the link between Heaven and the people, serving as a guide for the people towards Heaven.
