The Peasants' Revolts
The crushing weight of feudal obligations in the face of constant war caused peasant revolts in the past. The peasantry rose not against us, but against the 'unjust' nobility who failed to protect them while demanding excessive tithes. Though these revolts have been usually brutally suppressed, they have left a lasting legacy of social consciousness and have transformed the relationship between the classes, forcing the state to eventually moderate its tax demands to maintain internal stability.
