Ḵilāfa
The Ḵilāfa, or Caliphate, is the union of all Muslim faithful under a single ruler in the form of the Ḵalīfa, who is to be the political and spiritual successor of Muḥammad, peace be upon him. Although there are different ideas about who is eligible to be Ḵalīfa, the idea of all Islam united under a single banner has always been the primary focus of this process.
