In the bustling Mediterranean, fleets gather from around the world, prompting the need for a legal system to address crimes in the crowded land and sea. Ordinacions sobre lo fet de la mar, or Ordinances on What Happens in the Sea, is one of the earliest military codes of justice, created to govern fleets. This unique response to the post-Black Death era recruits crew members, including criminals, from outside Aragon, resulting in a harmonized code formed from diverse traditions rather than a mere codification of existing naval customs.
