The Aṯarī School of Theology rejects a rational interpretation of the scriptures in favor of a stricter reading of the texts of the Qur'ān and Ḥadīth, considering them the sole authorities. Being against any form of religion innovation, refuses any kind of rationality that is not based upon the texts of the Qur'ān.
