Ranganathaswamy Temple
The Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam is one of the largest and holiest Hindu temple complexes in India. Dedicated to the god Viṣṇu as Ranganatha, it dates at least from the early Chola period, with later extensions by the Pandya and Vijayanagara rulers. By 1337, it is a major pilgrimage center in Southern India, known for its vast precincts, imposing gopurams, and rich religious endowment.
