Guelfes et gibelins
Les Guelfes et les Gibelins s'affrontent depuis des siècles pour la suprématie en Italie, depuis la querelle des Investitures qui a opposé l'Église catholique Leader Title et le Saint-Empire romain germanique Leader Title. Les Guelfes soutiennent l'autorité Romaine sur la péninsule, tandis que les Gibelins sont considérés comme des loyalistes impériaux fidèles à l'Saint-Empire romain germanique Leader Title. Mais cette cause initiale est oubliée depuis longtemps, et les deux camps défendent désormais de nombreux intérêts. Les différents pays n'hésitent pas à changer d'allégeance pour servir leurs propres intérêts.
