Monetary Fiefs
Rather than granting permanent hereditary fiefs to Nobility, the crown retains direct ownership of most lands and appoints temporary administrators to manage them. These officials enjoy the revenues and authority of their territories only while holding office; upon their death or dismissal, control reverts to the crown. This prevents powerful hereditary aristocracies from forming and bolsters administrative loyalty.
