The Turkic peoples have come a long way since they originated centuries ago in the steppes of Asia. Having expanded to cover territories from the Black Sea to the Mongolian Steppes and down into Persia, they have interacted with many other cultures and peoples, and have diverged themselves into many different groups, but the shared Turkic identity remains.
