Ethiopian

The ancient kingdom of Axum brought the people of Ethiopia in contact with the Mediterranean world through Egypt, having trade with Greece and the Roman Empire, and it also brought Christianity. However, after the rise of Islam, the Ethiopians saw themselves cut from that contact and somewhat isolated as the only group of Christian Semitic peoples. This created a shared heritage that survives despite the cultural differences among themselves.
