The Parliament Presses Its Claim
A constitutional assembly does not simply sit still and be grateful for its existence. Ours has decided that now is the moment to press further — to enumerate rights that have so far been implied rather than written, to establish precedents that would be difficult to undo. They are not wrong that such a document would clarify Country's governance. They are also not wrong that it would permanently constrain the authority of the crown. We must decide how much power we are prepared to give away in writing, because written power tends to stay given.
