Minister has been named as chief among the conspirators that caused this tragedy to occur, and though evidence for his/her involvement and malice is elusive at best, there is now widespread calls for Target Ruler to dismiss him/her.

The grand vizier Rüstem Pasha, the husband of Mustafa's half-sister Mihrimah Sultan, stood at the heart of the controversy. He had been one of the core conspirators, seeking to secure the throne for Mustafa's half brother Selim, and was swiftly dismissed from his post. Selim would still become sultan however.
