In 1561, he published La Soltane, a tragedy portraying Suleiman the Magnificent's favorite wife Roxelana (Hürrem Sultan) as the chief conspirator behind the death of Şehzade Mustafa. In practice, this seems to have affected Franco-Ottoman relations very little, but it was the first time the Turks were portrayed on stage in France, and demonstrates the growing connections between the two countries.
