The Battle of the Princes
As a member of the Tatar Yoke, the rulers of the principalities under our protection have traditionally been subject to approval by the Ruler Title before taking the throne. The ruler of Target Root Country, whose right to rule has already been confirmed, is in the midst of a power struggle with a close relative, and has therefore sent an emissary asking us to reaffirm the appointment of Target Root Country Ruler.

In the following century, Muscovy grew in power and attempted to challenge the authority of the Mongols by allowing the throne to pass to the son of Vasily I, the ruling prince. Following his passing, the move was challenged by his brother due to different interpretations of his will, and the ensuing civil war resulted in a decades-long power struggle known as the Muscovite War of Succession.
