Ever since his breach of the royal palace and the murder of two marshals of France, Etienne Marcel has been bleeding support amongst his allies. While the murder of the marshals led to many nobles abandoning support for him, once news spread, many amongst the Burghers and Commoners leadership have openly expressed disdain for his actions. Despite this however, the news of the sudden death of the Provost at the Porte Saint-Antoine gates was rather unexpected as following suspicions that Etienne Marcel was going to open the gates for an invading force, guards swiftly dispatched the Provost along with members of his host. With Etienne Marcel now dead, and his remaining reputation destroyed, several leaders in the Burghers are now expressing forgiveness for the hostilities he inflamed.

While Etienne Marcel committed a great act of treason, his calls of execution have also brought with it great consequence and members of the Burghers and the Commoners have expressed great anger.
