2538historical_info = flavor_flo.55.historical_info The Tuscan Banking Crisis of the 1340s manifested itself in the bankruptcy of three powerful Florentine banks, the Bardi, Peruzzi and the Acciaioli families. The economic crisis was caused by multiple factors, the most important being the troubles the Florentine Republic found itself in following their war against the Della Scala in 1337/1338 and the later campaign against the Republic of Pisa. Another significant contributing factor was the excessive lending done to King Edward III of England, who was unable to repay the loans.
