While most of the ships in the fleet were lost, the Edward Bonaventure managed to reach the White Sea and make landfall near the Russian village of Arkhangelsk. There they discovered Russia's wealth and traveled to Moscow by sleigh. Despite differing interests, the Muscovy Trade Company formed, proving successful in the Russian fur trade.
