The very regulations that once ensured quality and consistency in guild products have begun to be seen as restrictive for business. Who can join, what is made, where it is sold, and who it is sold to are all things that guilds often regulate very strictly. The newer, younger generation of merchants see these once protective rules as nothing more than hindrances to an economy that is rapidly evolving and a business that is rapidly changing.
As such, trade houses have begun to obscure guilds, they offer greater liberties and opportunities, but spit in the face of traditional guild structures that were once the core of many communities.
