Disagreeing Cardinals
During the Conclave to decide the next Ruler Title, two cardinals have been engaging in a heated discussion that escalated into an open confrontation about each other's values rather than a simple exchange about the election itself.
On one side of the argument, there is the idea that God's work should be based on contemplation, regardless of the ebbs and flows of popular opinion. This view is shared by many of the most senior members of the Clergy, which hold that the Ruler Title should not alter his judgment to cater to those concerned only with earthly rewards, regardless of how much earthly power they might hold.
On the other side stand those that have gained their support mainly from the most influential and rich families among the Burghers, arguing that a Ruler Title that completely disregards the concerns and interests of the people is a failure as God's shepherd, and that having the support of the people can only bring but benefits.
