Target Ruler swiftly implemented a new constitution to safeguard the rights of the guilds in the city council and break the stranglehold the old elites had over our administration.

656historical_info = flavor_swi.1000.historical_info The City Council of Zürich in 1335 was dominated by a few noble families and only the wealthiest of merchants, goldsmiths, silk weavers, and the masters of the mint. Following a coup orchestrated by the nobles and guild members of Zürich on the 7th of June 1336, Rudolf Brun was elected as the first mayor of the city. Directly after, Brun implemented the Guild Constitution, which reformed and reorganized the City Council with a balance of 26 members, 13 from the old elite of merchants and 13 from the previously excluded guilds.
