The New Seat of the Order of Christ
With the Reconquista finished and the struggles with our Muslim enemies away from our territory, the presence of the Order of Christ in Tavira makes little sense. Besides, the progressive loss of prestige of the Order in the area does not help.
Some of our advisors have proposed to move the Order to the previous seat of the Knights Templar and occupy the monastery-castle complex of the Convent of Christ in the north of Estremadura.

1417historical_info = flavor_por.25.historical_info King Dinis I, responding to the Templar order's suppression in 1312, founded the Christi Militia in 1317 which was approved by Pope John XXII with the AD EA EX QVIBVS Bull in 1319. Following negotiations, another bull in 1323 granted Dinis the authority to transfer Templar property to the Order of the Christ. The knights swore vows to poverty, chastity, and obedience, with the Order's status as a Templar successor source of historical debate. Dom Gil Martins, the first Grand Master, hailed from the Order of Aviz.
