232historical_info = flavor_ned.3.historical_info Born in Stockholm, Frederick Coyett was the first Swede to explore East Asia, spending most of his time as a diplomat for the VOC in Dejima, he was successful at dealing with the Nanbu Affair, which saw the release of several Dutch prisoners from the Shogunate. After many successful negotiations, he was appointed the governor of Formosa. However, when the Míng dynasty fell he lost his governorship and the entire island to Zhèng Chénggōng. His remaining years were spent in Batavia, where he collected tons of Hindu statues.
