The Banū Marīn
For decades, the local strongmen across the Maghreb have relied on strong and influential tribes to assert control and safeguard the trade routes. One such tribe is the Banū Marīn. Originally, they emerged from the ashes of the previous Country Adjective dynasty and occupied Meknes in 1245.
Due to their descent from our northeastern territories and their proximity to the hostilities between our people and the rulers of Iberia, they once made up much of our army. Despite their military prowess, however, they spend most of their time with their families, as shepherds of great sheep flocks.

The tribe was key in founding the Marinid dynasty, which controlled Morocco and parts of North Africa. Renowned for their strong military capabilities, they significantly influenced the region's political dynamics, though internal strife eventually led to their decline.
