1785historical_info = flavor_mam.31.historical_info During the early 15th century, little is known about the attempts to regain financial stability across the Mamlūk realm. However, in one instance, the ustādār that oversaw the private office (dīwān al-mufrad), in an effort to replenish the royal treasury, was tasked with conducting extensive fiscal expeditions into the provinces. During these expeditions, taxes were forcibly collected, a process that closely resembled plundering, albeit under the pretext of recovering unpaid dues.
