Tripoli is surrounded by hostile powers, and its defenses remain weak against the ever-present threat of pirates and corsairs. Its garrison is stretched thin, and some question whether we can truly hold this distant outpost.

However, their rule over Tripoli was fraught with difficulties. The city was isolated, poorly defended, and surrounded by hostile forces. The Order struggled to maintain control, facing frequent raids and uprisings. In 1551, after years of resistance, the Ottomans launched a major assault, overwhelming the garrison and forcing the Knights to surrender.
