The constant humiliating defeats suffered at the hands of England have left the military and civil leadership demoralized and discredited. When Fra Ruler granted Joan Of Arc's urgent request to be equipped for war and placed at the head of his/her army, his/her decision must have been based in large part on the knowledge that every rational, orthodox option had been tried and had failed.
