Hailing from a wealthy Burghers family, Etienne Marcel has made quite a name for himself in recent years throughout Paris, becoming a rather influential figure in the mercantile politics of the city. It is through this influence that Marcel eventually gained the title of Provost, representing the interest of the various merchants of Paris. While it has been quite some time since he assumed the role of Provost, leaders throughout the Estates-General have found him an influential figure and have elected to make him a delegate in the interests of representing the Third Estate. It would be unsurprising if Marcel's influence continues to grow with his newfound position.
