Target Character had to flee his/her native Denmark due to accusations of subterfuge and assassinations, and of conspiring to take control of the country. Accusations, of course, that he/she claims to be completely false and unfounded. Now, to prove his/her good faith, he/she has offered a vast amount of money to Target Ruler.
It is quite probable that this money has been taken from Danish coffers, but at the same time it will come in very handy to fund a war against them.
