Target Gerhard was a critical piece of Country Adjective politics since he started getting involved in it, managing to be the hand behind not just one king but two. Since the death of Christopher, he basically took control of the country. That did not sit well with many of the Country Adjective Nobility, who started to give their support to Target Valdemar.
Over the years, the situation became increasingly tenser, and threats of attempts to Target Gerhard's life became ever more apparent.
