Headed by Liú Jǐn, they controlled imperial access, manipulated administration, and enriched themselves through corruption and intimidation. Their dominance provoked deep resentment among scholar-officials and contributed to instability within the government. In 1510, Liú Jǐn was accused of treason and executed, which led to the downfall of the group. The Eight Tigers came to symbolize the dangers of unchecked eunuch power in late Míng politics.
