Religious Guidance
The island of Sailan has been the source of a strong Theravāda Buddhist tradition for centuries. It is in many ways a model society for a Theravāda state and its thriving monastic communities are the envy of the Buddhist world.
While our own state also follows the Theravāda way, our laws and traditions are a patchwork of local traditions and ideas from competing Buddhist schools, and we lack the strong monastic infrastructure of the island. Some in our Court Title suggest that in order to remedy this, we should send an embassy to Sailan and ask that they send us monks to carry their Theravāda traditions to our country.
