For the longest of time, needless religious teachings have wasted what little precious time children had to learn useful things. As of late, a movement has been happening in which even monasteries are opting for a more secular approach to education, first teaching important skills such as literacy and basic mathematics, and then prattling about faith with the time left.
This reversal of the usage of time should help improve our literacy.
